New York

In New York, your inspection is required within 5 days from the date the vehicle is added to the policy. Failure to comply will remove physical damage from the policy.

Acceptable Situations to Waive Carco Inspection for New Vehicles (Not previously registered):

If the vehicle is less than 30 days old and was purchased or leased new, you may avoid inspection by providing us with one of the following prior to the specified date:

  • A copy of the Bill of Sale which contains a full description of the vehicle, including all options and accessories.

  • A copy of the lease and a copy of the window sticker or dealer invoice showing the itemized options and equipment and the total retail price of the vehicle and any dealer installed options.

  • A copy of the MV-50 form*, provided by the DMV and a copy of the window sticker or dealer invoice showing the itemized options and equipment and the total retail price of the vehicle and any dealer installed options.

* An MV-50 form ("Retail Certificate of Sale"), provided by the Department of Motor Vehicles establishes transfer of ownership from the dealer to the customer.

Acceptable Situations to Waive Carco Inspection Requirements (Previously Registered Vehicles):

  • Vehicle is 7 years or older.

  • Policyholder has been insured 4 or more years with the same insurer, without interruption. Prior physical damage coverage is not required.

New Jersey

In New Jersey, your inspection is required within 35 days from the date the vehicle is added to the policy. Failure to comply will remove physical damage from the policy.

Acceptable Situations to Waive Carco Inspection New Vehicles (Not previously registered):

If the vehicle is less than 30 days old and was purchased or leased new, you may avoid inspection by providing us with one of the following prior to the specified date:

  • A copy of the Bill of Sale, Buyers Order or Lease Agreement containing a full description of the Vehicle and all options and accessories. (A window sticker is acceptable to verify the options and accessories, including VIN#, however it must be accompanied by a Buyers Order or Bill of Sale to show proof of purchase.)

  • A copy of the Title indicating transfer of ownership and a copy of the window sticker / dealer invoice that includes all options and accessories, including VIN#.

Acceptable Situations to Waive Carco Inspection Requirements (Previously Registered Vehicles):

  • Vehicle is 8 years or older.

  • In Force Business: The named insured has been continuously insured with 21st Century under the same policy for 7 or more months (as defined by transaction date vs. inception date).

  • New Business: Policyholder has been insured for 365 days (1 year) or more, without interruption, under a policy that provides physical damage coverage, if the insurer verifies the coverage.

A new policyholder can provide a copy of Declarations Pages from their prior carrier showing the specific vehicle in question had physical damage coverage. The Declaration Pages must be for a full 12 months of prior coverage for that vehicle.

Florida

In Florida, your inspection is required within 35 days from the date the vehicle is added to the policy if the policy is in the following counties: Broward, Dade, Duval, Hillsborough, Orange, Palm Beach, and Pinellas. Failure to comply will remove physical damage from the policy.

Acceptable Situations to Waive Carco Inspection Requirements for New Vehicles:

If the vehicle is less than 30 days old and was purchased or leased new, you may avoid inspection by providing us with one of the following prior to the specified date:

  • A copy of the Bill of Sale, Buyers Order or Lease Agreement containing a full description of the Vehicle and all options and accessories. (A window sticker is acceptable to verify the options and accessories, including VIN#, however it must be accompanied by a Buyers Order or Bill of Sale to show proof of purchase.)

  • A copy of the Title indicating transfer of ownership and a copy of the window sticker / dealer invoice that includes all options and accessories, including VIN#.

  • Vehicle is 10 years or older.

  • Policyholder has been insured for 2 years or more, without interruption, under a policy which provides physical damage coverage, if the insurer verifies the coverage.

A new policyholder can provide a copy of Declarations Pages from their prior carrier showing the specific vehicle in question had physical damage coverage. The Declaration Pages must be for a full 24 months of prior coverage for that vehicle.
